  • The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, the Apostille Convention, or the Apostille Treaty, is an international treaty drafted by the Hague Conference on Private International Law. It specifies the modalities through which a document issued in one of the signatory countries can be certified for legal purposes in all the other signatory states. A certification under the terms of the convention is called an apostille. If the convention applies between two countries, such an apostille is sufficient to certify a document's validity, and removes the need for double-certification, by the originating country and then by the receiving country.

How to proceed if you need certified translation services.

Apostille / Legalization of Documents / Certifying Documents / Certificate Authentication / Certificate of Authenticity

The official translation of an apostille must be bound with the entire document legalised by means of an apostille.

The official apostille translation consists of (usually) four pages, which the translator binds and staples together and endorses the document with his official stamp.

Front page: Identifies the official translator and the client.

The client identification must include: first and last name and the address of the person who orders the translation.

    Second page:  apostille

Third page: translation of the apostille into the target language.

The translation must be done by an official translator authorised by the judicial authorities of the respective state.

Fourth page: Translator's Certificate. The last page of the official translation of the apostille consists of the translator's clause stating that this is a true and correct translation of the original. It bears the imprint of the official stamp of the translator and his signature.
